What is Massage and Esthetics Therapy?

Massage therapy and esthetics go hand in hand. They both deal with our skin and utilizing various techniques to massage and relax tense muscles. Massage therapy focuses heavily on finding ways to release tension from muscles that have been negatively impacted by our day to day routines that we may be unaware of. We offer several different types of massage therapy, including:

  • Deep tissue massage
  • Reflexology
  • Aromatherapy massage
  • Swedish massage

Esthetics treatment consists of skin treatment that is oftentimes coupled with massage therapy. Some of these types of esthetics treatments consist of:

  • Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Treatment (EPAT)
  • Mask therapy

These types of therapies have been known to treat neck pain, back pain, skin conditions, and much more. Dr. Mendoza will assess your condition to determine the combination of therapies that will be most effective for you. Our goal is to relieve your back pain and your neck pain and prevent them from returning in the future.

Understanding EPAT

EPAT system information

What is EPAT?
Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®) sometimes referred to as Acoustic WaveTherapy (AWT) is the most advanced, non-invasive technology which uses energy based onunique sets of acoustic pressure waves. EPAT helps to improve the regenerativepotential inareas including upper arms, stomach, gluteal region and thighs that have degenerated becauseof poor blood flow and weakening of connective tissue.

What disorders can be treated?
EPAT is used by many as a preventative treatment to reduce the susceptibility and/or reverse and eliminate visible signs of connective tissue disorders. It has been successfully used in aesthetic medicine in the course of several application studies to treat:

CellulitePre/Post LiposuctionScar RevisionCapsular ContractureStriaeStretch Marks
Does EPAT work?
EPAT has proven results as reflected in its high rate of patient satisfaction. In our pilot study (Sattler, Aesthetic Dermatology February 2008), 91% of patients say they would recommend EPAT to other patients. The patients noticed an improvement in their skin in an average of only 2.5 sessions with no side effects reported.

What are the expected results?
EPAT treatment has a multilayer effect that includes:

Skin tightening
Better skin structure and contour
Increased blood flow and activation of metabolism, stimulation of lipolysis and body shaping
Stimulation and activation of collagen formation
Improved circulation and drainage
Normalization of muscle tone
How is the treatment performed?
Typically, coupling gel is applied to the treatment area of interest to enhance effectiveness. Then EPAT® pressure waves are released via the applicator and moved over the area of interest in a circular motion.

Is it safe?
Yes. This FDA-cleared technology was developed in Europe and is currently used around the globe. A wealth of medical experience, state-of-the-art engineering and optimal quality have been built into each EPAT® device. Extensive clinical studies and tests have confirmed its safety and efficacy.

What is the duration of the treatment and how many treatments will I need?
Treatment sessions take approximately 20 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. Generally, at least 8-12 treatment sessions (2 per week) are necessary to achieve desired results.

What are the possible side effects or complications?
The non-invasive EPAT treatment has virtually no risks or side effects.

What if I have a special health condition?
The safety and effectiveness of the EPAT® procedure has not been determined on people with the following health conditions:

Malignancies
DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
Your physician will provide you with information about how these and other conditions might affect the determination to perform the EPAT® procedures.

Why consider non-invasive EPAT?
EPAT is the first effective and long-lasting treatment modality for treating connective tissue disorders. It is invasive with virtually no risks, side effects or downtime. EPAT has a success satisfaction rate of more than 80%.
